Got a call from a woman in Brooksville whose mother had been living in a hoarding situation for several years. Mom had agreed to get help and the family wanted the house cleaned out so she could come back to a safe living space. This kind of sensitive cleanout takes a different approach than a regular job.

We don’t rush these. Day one we focused on the kitchen and living room. Cleared pathways first, then worked outward. Sorted everything into keep, donate, and remove piles. The family was on-site to flag anything sentimental — photo albums, a few pieces of jewelry, some old letters. Everything else went.

Day two was the bedrooms and bathroom. Found a lot of unopened purchases still in bags, expired food stored in closets, and stacks of newspapers going back years. We bagged it all, loaded it, and hauled it.

Day three was the garage and a final deep pass through the whole house. The garage had some old furniture and collectibles mixed in with the clutter — a couple of pieces that actually had value. We flagged those for the family so they could decide whether to keep them or let us make an offer on the resale items.

By the end of it the floors were visible, the closets were empty, and the place felt like a home again. These situations take patience. We move at whatever pace makes the homeowner comfortable and we don’t judge. That’s not what this is about.
